Sell before Ex?

Been agonising over this one for a bit but today is the last day being as ex-date is tomorrow (8th May). I'm still below my average, and the calucalation (gamble) is that by selling now and buying back in tomorrow, I get the full 2.20 euro discount on the share price, allowing me to hold the same number of shares for less money or buy more shares for same price sold for today. This is becuase I am in UK, and subject to a whopping 25% withholding tax. Alternatively, I hold and bank £600 of dividends (after tax) and use that to buy more shares, probably in another stock. I like Renault as a compay - We bought two brand new EVs this year (a 5 and then a 4) and all the reports I have read look promising. Not looking for advice, its my decission. Just wondering if anyone has similar or different approach to Foreign companies (WHT) that pay an annual dividend ONCE per year and hand over cash in just a few days (11th May)!

Share buy backs

Between Feb 20th and Feb 25th, Renault bought back 600,000 shares at an average price of 32.44 Euros. (Source: Renault disclosure, viewed on quartr app) The price continues to fall, which only benefits Renault as they continue with their buy back program. Seems to be a common theme, I cannot fathom wether companies are buying back becuase the SP has fallen, or there is some kind of manipulation to drive the price down so the planned buy back is less expensive. It's not just Renault, seems to be commonplace. Anyway, I continue to add in the lead up to the once-a-year ex-Date on 7th May, where the dividend is to be confirmed at 2.20 Euro on a share trading under 30 Euro.

All car industries are relatively undervalued some analysts are predicting even 40% increase at this rate

Do we think we are at the bottom now and it’s time to buy or do we think it could drop some more??

Q3 results +6.8%

The invest'R app pinged at 6am GMT, with the headline that revenue for Renault Group is up +6.8% LFL for the 9 months although up+ less for Q3 when compared to 2024 results. Alpine more than doubled LFL sales volumes, no doubt lead by the new all electric A290, a souped up version of the new Renault 5. Light Commercial Vehicles figures are down 18%, the only blot on the copy book. Overall good results in my own opinion 👍, so no doubt yesterday's share price fall will continue as a greedy market expects more 🙄

Consensus seems to be new car sales are down globally including Renault Group missing targets but still improved.
